The letter of 1 Corinthians is a written response to the issues that threatened to damage and weaken the young, growing church. Paul was in Ephesus when he received news about what was happening in Corinth. Paul began his letter to the Corinthians by addressing the heart of their problems. These first verses were preserved as Scripture, making Paul’s words as relevant to people today as they were to the ancient church in Corinth.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.” Romans 15:5
