Year of the Bible: Part Three of Twelve Àpẹrẹ
The Tabernacle.
God has always wanted to be with His people. For this reason, God decided to join them in their camp. He gave Moses a set of detailed plans for constructing the Tabernacle, where He would live among the people.
It was no ordinary tent; it was a tent regal enough for the one true God to dwell in. The tent's details and contents have echoes of the Garden of Eden, reminding the people of God's original design and desire to live among them. This new dwelling was in the middle of the camp, right in the midst of the people. Indeed, it was a unique and holy home for God.
God brought His presence to the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle [the innermost place], and He made his presence known in the camp. The people could not come directly to Him, but they knew He was there!
Many generations later, God sent Jesus to be a visible manifestation of His presence with His people. When Jesus went back to Heaven, God again decided to dwell with His people by sending the Holy Spirit. However, this time, not to live in a tent built with human hands, but in you and me!
Question: Do you ever behave like you need to go to a special building or place to find and meet with God? Do you think this is what God wants from you?
Prayer: God, help me remember that I have access to your presence every hour of every day, everywhere I am. I want to always invite your wisdom and perspective into all parts of my life; my work, family, friendships, struggles, and victories. Thank you for never giving up on us. In Jesus' name, Amen!
