Money and WealthÀpẹrẹ
Eternal life is free, but it is not cheap.
Grace is a free gift of God. But it is not cheap. It cost Him everything! The Bible says we were ransomed with the blood of Jesus Christ. The price for our liberation from sin could not be paid by silver or gold or any other worldly treasures. It required the death of God’s only beloved Son.
John the Baptist introduced Jesus as “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world”. The prophet Isaiah compared Him to “a lamb that is led to the slaughter”. In Revelation 5:12 He is called “the Lamb who was slain”. He was killed in order that we might live.
Throughout the Old Testament, animal sacrifices pointed towards this amazing solution for the problem of human sin. As Hebrews 9:22 phrases it: “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins”. But the blood of animals could not provide a final solution. Ultimately, only the blood of Jesus Christ would suffice. He was the perfect, spotless Sacrifice. Our salvation took the highest price. And God was willing to pay it.
Do you see how precious people are in God’s eyes, given the price He paid for their redemption?
