Key Beliefs: Supporting Basic BeliefsÀpẹrẹ
The Bible
This week, we will be reading about the Bible. All of the Psalms are Hebrew poetry that were sung as part of Israel’s worship. Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm and longest chapter in the Bible. The Psalm has 22 stanzas that begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet. It is written in praise of God’s word to us, the Bible.
In reading about our key beliefs, we begin with the Bible. This is not because we worship the Bible, but because what we know about the God we worship, we know from the Bible. Psalm 119 repeatedly tells us the Bible is from God. We act according to what it says because it was God who gave it to us.
As you are reading the Bible, do you think of it as God speaking to you? When you ignore its teachings, do you see it as rebellion against God? The writer of this Psalm sets a great example of seeing a connection between reading, understanding, and obeying God’s word and his closeness to God. Hopefully you do too!

In this plan passages supporting the basic beliefs of Christianity are read. There are five readings per belief. If weekends are used for reflection, the plan will require 90 days. Notes are also included to assist with understanding.
