Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of PraiseÀpẹrẹ
November 7
Introduction
Today’s psalm could be considered a continuation of Psalm 111 (yesterday’s reading). Written in the wisdom tradition, the psalm outlines the virtues of a righteous person.
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 112:1b
Happy is the person who honors the LORD, who takes pleasure in obeying his commands.
Today’s Reading
Psalm 112
Reflect
Yesterday’s reading (Psalm 111) concluded by stating that wisdom is gained by honoring the LORD; in today’s reading the writer affirms that honoring the LORD also brings happiness. How is a righteous person described in this psalm and what virtues are cited? In the concluding verse, what does the psalm writer say about the wicked? In what ways will you honor God today?
Pray
Lord God, I trust in you and ask that you strengthen my faith day by day. Teach me to be kind and generous and help me overcome any feelings of anger or envy that I may feel toward others.
I thank and praise you for your love and mercy. May my words and actions this day bring honor to you. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those seeking to overcome jealousy and anger
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 113: The LORD’s goodness is praised.
