Isaiah 18

18
XVIII
1Ho! Thou land that makest a loud noise with thy wings,
Which is beyond the rivers of Cush;
2Which sendeth ambassadors along the sea,
And in vessels of papyrus on the face of the waters:
Go, ye swift messengers,
To a nation strong and formidable,
To a people terrible; and, from beyond them,
To a nation very strong and overpowering,
Whose lands the rivers tear up; and say:
3All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth,
When the standard is lifted up on the mountains, see ye;
And when the trumpet is sounded, hear!
4For thus hath Jehovah said unto me:
I will take my rest, and I will look on in my dwelling-place,
Like a clear heat in the sun-shine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
5For before the harvest, when the bud is perfect,
And the flower is become a ripening grape,
He shall cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks;
And the branches he shall remove away, he shall cut down.
6They shall be left together unto the rapacious bird of the mountains,
And to the wild beast of the earth:
And the rapacious bird shall summer upon them,
And every wild beast of the earth shall winter upon them.
7At that time shall a present be brought to Jehovah of hosts,
From a people strong and formidable,
And from a people terrible; and, from beyond them,
From a nation very strong and overpowering,
Whose lands the rivers tear up;
To the place of the name of Jehovah of hosts, the mount Zion.
