Ke kaloku bekuza kubakho ipasika,• izonka ezingenagwele, emveni kweentsuku ezimbini; baye ke ababingeleli abakhulu nababhali befuna ukuba bangáthini na ukumbamba ngenkohliso, bambulale. Babesithi ke, Makungabi khona ngomthendeleko, hleze kubekho isaqunge sabantu. Kuthe eseBhetani, endlwini kaSimon owayeneqhenqa, akubon' ukuba uhleli, kweza umfazi enehlala lelabhastile,• linamafutha enadusi• engangxengelelweyo, exabiso likhulu; walityumza ihlala elo lelabhastile, wamgalela ngawo entloko. Kwaye ke kukho abathile abacaphukáyo phakathi kwabo, besithi, Yenzelweni na le nkcitho yamafutha aqholiweyo? Kuba la mafutha bekungáthengiswayo ngawo ngenani elingaphezu kweedenariyo• ezimakhulu mathathu, kuphiwe amahlwempu; basuka bamfuthela. Uthe ke uYesu, Myekeni; nimaphulelani na? Ke kaloku, ngowokuqala umhla wezonka ezingenagwele, xa bekubingelelwa imvana yepasika, bathi kuye abafundi bakhe, Ùnga singaya kulungisa phi na, ukuze uyidle ipasika? Ususa babini kubafundi bakhe, athi kubo, Hambani niye kuwo umzi; nohlangatyezwa ngumntu ethwele umphanda wamanzi; mlandeleni. Wathi kubo, Ligazi lam eli lomnqophiso omtsha, eliphalala ngenxa yabaninzi. Inene ndithi kuni, Andisayi kubuya ndisele esiqhameni somdiliya, kude kube yiloo mini sukuba ndisisela sisitsha ebukumkanini bukaThixo.

Waliqhekeza ke elo qhaga, wathambisa intloko kaYesu ngamafutha lawo. Kwakukho abathile abacaphukáyo, besithi omnye komnye: “Kutheni na ukuba kwenziwe le nkcitho yamafutha aqholiweyo? Ngethengiswe ngemali engaphezu kweerandi ezingamakhulu amathathu, kwaphiwa amahlwempu.” Baza ke bayikhalazela loo ntokazi. UYesu ke wathi: “Myekeni; nimkhathazelani? Úndenzele into entle. Bakuba behleli besitya, uYesu wathi kubo: “Ndithi kuni, inene, omnye kuni apha, nina nityayo kunye nam, uya kundingcatsha.” Baza ke baba buhlungu, besithi kuye ngabanye ngabanye: “Ngaba iya kuba ndim na? Ngaba iya kuba ndim na?” Waphendula ke wathi kubo: “Iya kuba ngomnye kubafundi abalishumi elinambini, lowo usithi nkxu kunye nam isonka esityeni.
