Practice Meditating on God’s Word

ДЕНЬ 6 З 7

LIVE it out

The tragic irony is that the writer of these wise proverbs  – King Solomon – didn’t live out the truth that he taught. As he instructed his sons to receive his words, he himself was acquiring wife after wife, and “his wives led him astray” (1 Kings 11 v 1-4).

The example of King Solomon shows that even the wisest man on earth could not live out what God had commanded. So, what hope do we have?

Our hope is in our greater king, Jesus.  He perfectly received and lived out God’s words. Through his death, in our place, he gives us his perfect obedience to cover our failure to live out God’s words. We receive God’s words by receiving Christ.

So we can summarise the steps in a Christ-centred way: Christ is our LORD, who enables us to LOOK, TURN, and LEARN his words. But we must beware of stopping there. King Solomon knew God’s commands, but he didn’t live them out. The final step in meditating is to recognize that in Christ we have been made new, so we can LIVE out God’s words.

Live | Live today safe in the knowledge that Christ has forgiven you and made you new. Meditate on the truth that just as the whole universe orbits around God, our minds are now freed to join that orbit. When we move with God’s gravity, rather than pulling against it, we find true life and peace. This is what we were created for.
