Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

DAY 23 OF 40

Week 4: God’s Presence in Suffering and Renewal

Theme: Even in our darkest valleys, God is with us, offering comfort, hope, and the promise of restoration. His love sustains us through every trial.

Focus Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we receive from God.”

Connect: Suffering can sometimes result from our own actions or failures. Have you ever experienced guilt or regret that weighed heavily on you? Mistakes can leave us feeling distant from God, burdened by shame and uncertainty about whether we can be forgiven.

Engage: When Israel sinned by worshiping the golden calf, Moses interceded on their behalf, and God relented from bringing disaster. This passage reveals God’s willingness to show mercy in response to repentance. It reminds us that God’s mercy is greater than our failures and that we can approach God with confidence, trusting in grace.

Apply: Say a prayer of gratitude for God’s grace and mercy. Trust in God’s mercy and grace to forgive and restore you.

About this Plan

Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

Lent begins with a call to release control and embrace surrender. By letting go of the burdens we carry, we create space for God’s grace to bring renewal and transformation. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
