Today Is Going to Be Another Good DayНамуна
Today is going to be a good day because even though the pain of today may seem overwhelming, God promises so much more joy to come if we can but wait for his eternal presence.
In God’s economy, our pain is never wasted. He truly uses all things, including our hurts, our pain, and our brokenness for our good and for his glory. Sometimes he teaches us things about ourselves, sometimes he gives greater revelation about himself, and sometimes he uses our pain to encourage others. But the journey is so much easier when we submit our expectations to him, and surrender to his good and perfect will, plan, and timing.
We must remember that truly, what we experience in this world is light and momentary compared to all we will come to understand in the presence of Almighty God when we spend eternity with him in heaven. He who has promised is faithful to fulfill his promises. Because of that, we can have a good day despite our circumstances.
As one who has treated patients suffering from depression and/or anxiety for decades, I thought I understood their suffering and had great compassion for them. But while I possessed clinical knowledge, I lacked a knowing that only comes from experiencing it oneself.
I grew exponentially in my faith, compassion, and empathy when I traveled in the pit of depression and anxiety. Instead of head knowledge, I gained a deeper heart of compassion and understanding.
God never wastes our pain. He uses our pain to teach us, transform us to become more like him, and to minister to others suffering in the same way we have suffered.
Will we be faithful to trust Him? We choose where to place our trust, and based on our decisions, we also indirectly choose the consequences.
Father, thank you that you never waste our suffering, but that you use all things for our good and for your glory. Help us to hold onto the hope that is available from your promises. Keep our eyes focused on you and the glory that awaits us in Heaven instead of on our times of suffering. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
