The Holy Spirit is my helper
I rely on the Spirit to help me in my weakness
I don’t know about you, but there was a time at the beginning of my journey as a believer that I felt incompetent and as a failure with certain things. I remember how many times I try to wake up early in the morning to pray and have my quiet time but I failed to do so over and over again. Until I spoke to one of my mentors at that stage, about what I am going through. A straightforward answer or perhaps a rhetorical question came my way. Have you asked the Holy Spirit to wake you up? No, I haven’t, how can I ask the Holy Spirit to do such a small thing. Our conversation moved over to many examples and promises in the Bible about the Holy Spirit as our helper. Romans 8:26 the very first sentence 'And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness', made me realize what I was missing out on.
Romans 8:26-27 NLT And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
Can I rely on the Holy Spirit in my weakness?
Yes, you can! Since that day, I have asked the Holy Spirit to wake me up. My mentor kept me accountable and guided me in the process of hearing the voice and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit. I could see the difference this made in my everyday life.
John 14:26 ESV But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
The Holy Spirit is to your advantage
I started realizing that the Holy Spirit is to my advantage in life. Knowing that He is always with me and that I am never alone, gave me the confidence to trust Him for so much more. Jesus made this promise to His disciples to give them “another Helper” to guide, strengthen and lead them in all truth. This was not only to the advantage of the Disciples but for us as believers. On many occasions, when I sensed a feeling of weakness, I was reminded that when Jesus makes a promise, it is yes and amen in Him.
John 14:16 ESV And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.
Prayer:
This is your moment to be quiet and ask God to awaken your Spirit to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Maybe you could take a moment to quieten your heart or even listen to soft worship music and create a moment to pray and trust God for the specific need or answer you are looking for?

About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
