Finding And Living Out Your Purpose

DAY 6 OF 7

Our Purpose Is To Fear God

Peter writes asking us to live our lives with great reverence and in holy awe of God. This is not a trembling ‘run and hide’ kind of fear but a reverent and awe-filled stance. It is an understanding of who God is and what we are not. It is realizing how holy and just God is while also being so loving and compassionate. It should inspire a holy reverence in us! We sometimes overemphasize God’s compassionate and merciful nature forgetting that first and foremost he is a Holy, Righteous and Just God. If that doesn’t inspire awe nothing will. Our fear of God should make us shun evil (Proverbs 3:5) and as a corollary - make us run to Him. Our primary purpose in life, therefore, is to worship God. This worship is a lifestyle and not a one-time, “Sunday-only” act. It is not just the singing or playing of instruments (which are powerful ways to worship, no doubt) but in how we work and how we rest. Worship brings our focus to all that really matters in this life - Christ and His great love for us. Worship centers us in the midst of storms and points us to the source of all comfort and strength. Worship deepens our relationship with God and disposes of religion and tradition. We were made to worship - if we don’t, the rocks will cry out!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I pray that my worship of you will be acceptable and pleasing to you in every way. I give you my body, my heart, my mind, and soul as an act of spiritual worship. Be glorified Oh God! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan

Finding And Living Out Your Purpose

Are you feeling purposeless in life? Do you think you were made for more? This Bible plan is meant to connect you to your Maker, the only one who truly knows your purpose. Once connected to Him, He begins to use us in ways we may never have dreamed of and with a passion we didn’t know we were capable of until then.
