Book of Isaiah

DAY 11 OF 22

GOD’S SOVEREIGNITY

A state or kingdom must have a series of laws governing the territory and every citizen and resident in that country must obey the laws that have been set. If someone breaks the law then that person must be punished and the one to mete out the punishment are those in authority. As we know, the most authoritative party in a kingdom is the king. Only the king has the right to punish the people who violate the rules of the kingdom. The king has full sovereignty.

For a state to be strong, the king who reigns must hold a strong and unlimited power, so that the people in the kingdom are willing to surrender their rights to the king. If this is the practice of the kings of the world, how about the heavenly King? The King who possesses full sovereignty in the territory on earth and above the earth and under the earth, including the sovereignty of life after death. The name of this King is familiar to us, He is Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 33:2 NIV says: "LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress." The people are crying out for God's help because they know that only God is sovereign and able to help them.

Even though we face many challenges in life let us be assured that our Lord is God who has sovereignty over our lives and He will always help us.  Amen

The protection of the existing king in this world is limited but the protection of our sovereign God is infinite.
