Book of Deuteronomy

DAY 9 OF 11

NOTHING IS HIDDEN

Everything is open before God, meaning there is nothing hidden from Him. He is omniscient, even to the depths of the human heart. The Psalms say that before we say anything God knows. Where can we run away from God? God knows everything. We can deceive people, we can pretend and act, but do not try to mock God.

Indeed, we live today in the New Covenant, where the grace of God pours out upon us. But that does not mean we live as we please. Still, God is against those who cheat or live in pretense. In the book of Acts, husband and wife, Ananias and Sapphira, died because they lied to God and mocked God's holiness.

The Israelites were also given rules and laws in their lives, even the rules of how they bring offerings before God.

If we look at the commandments given to the people of Israel, all of them were forms of God's earnestness for His people. Why? Because through all these orders the Israelites were warned of the dangers of sin and separation from Him. Therefore, through those orders the Israelites were sober about their lives.

God has saved us by His grace. Therefore, as a sign that we have received his salvation, let us do righteous deeds to glorify Him. Let truth and justice be our portion, as we have been justified by Him.

Not a single part of our lives is hidden from His grace and power.
