The Domino EffectНамуна
We all desire to have an impact and leave a legacy. Some of us even desire to live with an eternal perspective that will affect the generations to come. But where do we start? Do we just quit our job and become a pastor? Do we become like Jesus, become homeless, and travel around, maybe even holding up a scripture written on a poster board at a busy intersection? No way! It’s actually quite easy! Just replicate what you have seen Jesus do in your life or how people have led you closer to him. Has he rescued you from a sin, a dark area in your life? How did he do it? And are you willing to replicate that to the people around you?
In Acts 3, Peter and John were just going to church, and they saw a crippled man begging for money? What did you see on your way to church this past weekend? Someone walking home with handfuls of groceries, someone with a flat tire on the side of the road, a homeless man holding a sign? Peter and John stopped. And they did the one thing they saw Jesus do in Matthew 9, Mark 2 and John 5. They decided to heal the guy. The crazy thing is, the guy was asking for money, not to be healed. But they decided to have faith in and act on the actions they saw Jesus perform.
And everyone around him was filled with awe and wonder. People gathered around, and Peter preached about Jesus and Jesus crucified. They caused such a domino effect that they were preaching well into the night and caused such a disturbance that they were thrown in prison. But Acts 4:3-4 says “They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.” More and more people were jumping into the domino line of Jesus.
