God is . . . Our Defender

“When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. For it is not you who will be speaking it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10: 19-20 NLT

I think that one of the hardest things to deal with is being misrepresented by others, especially by close friends or family members. There are so many times when I have wanted to defend my actions but didn’t. The Bible says that Jesus didn’t defend Himself even though He easily could have stood up to all of His enemies. He could have proven Himself, but He chose not to. Why?

Because God is our ultimate defender, and Jesus knew that! It may not be easy, and help may not come as quickly as you would like, but allow God to be your defender!

In what specific areas do you need to let God defend you? Today I urge you to lay down your need to prove yourself right—and instead let God defend you!

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for caring so much for me that You defend me. Help me to forgive those who have hurt me and to trust you alone to fight my battles for me! Amen in Jesus’ name.
