Renew Your Strength After a BreakupChikamu
STAY ALERT AND CONNECTED
The devil is hungry for our souls. He wants to completely devour us. The Scripture likens the devil to a roaring lion. Lions prey on the weak. They look for those animals who are sickly or separated from their pack. They want the gazelle that has too much stuff going on and is not alert, and it doesn't even see him coming.
The weak, distracted, and separated are easy targets for the lion and so is the case for us. If we are spiritually and/or emotionally weak, distracted by our circumstances and what is going on around us, and separated from family, friends, and other believers, we become an easy target for the devil.
Although you are walking through a difficult season of your life, you can’t let your guard down. There’s a hungry lion watching you to see what you will do. He’s waiting for you to let your guard down so he can attack you, but if you resist the devil, he will flee from you (James 4:7).
How do you resist him? Let’s talk about it. We have to stay alert. When we are alert, we are on the lookout for danger. We all walk through difficult seasons in our lives, times when we are weak, but we can’t get so caught up in our circumstances that we’re not paying attention to what’s going on around us. The lion is watching you right now.
If you find yourself spiritually weak and distracted, you need extra protection. That’s where your pack comes in. Many people tend to want to separate from their pack during times of weakness, but that is the worst thing you can do. You need their encouragement, love, and protection. You need positive people in your pack to encourage you to keep going. You need people to speak God’s Word into your life when you may be at a point where you can’t speak it yourself.
You need people to pray for you when you can’t pray for yourself. You need people who will be alert and stand guard while you deal with your issues. If they see the devil circling you, they can help you resist him. And if the devil tries to attack you anyway, they will be there to help you fight him. Believers who fight together achieve victory.
Declare: In my weakness, I will continue to remain alert at all times. I know my enemy is circling me, seeking to devour me. I will not be distracted by my circumstances, and I will remain close to other believers who can help me in my time of weakness. I will resist the devil, and he will flee from me (James 4:7).
