Have You Walked Through the Dirt?

Do you have white sneakers?

This footwear has been trending for a while now, and I have to say I love them. I'm happy that spring is finally here, and I can wear them without worrying about them getting dirty.

Perhaps you remember the day you gave your life to Jesus and felt and personally experienced what the Bible says:

“‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord , ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’” (Isaiah 1:18 NIV)

Do you remember?

That was a wonderful feeling. A feeling you may not have experienced for a long time. Maybe it's winter in your life, and your feet have been walking through a lot of dirt lately... and this dirt seems to be sticking to your beautiful, once snow-white, shoes.

We are often, and I want to say it as it is, seduced by the devil into the lie that we can't get rid of this filth. Because we should have known that if you walk through the dirt in white shoes, it's your own fault when they get dirty.

But Jesus' perfect love speaks a different language! This perfect Jesus gets on His knees to wash the feet of His imperfect disciples.

Be careful: the lie is telling you that the dirt you let into your life has ruined your relationship with Jesus for good! But the truth speaks a different language:

“If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.” (1 John 4:15 NIV) And in 1 John, it says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9 NIV)

Yes: “Jesus answered, ‘Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.’”(John 13:10 NIV)

If you have given your life to Jesus, then you are already clean. The dirt of the moment cannot ruin your relationship with Him. All that matters is that you bring this dirt to Him today. He will make you cleaner than your brand new white sneakers!

You don't have to start from scratch—just have your feet washed again!

You are a miracle!

P.S. Have you ever thought about baptism? About consciously “immersing yourself in His grace?” Paul also proclaimed: “Whoever is baptized confesses that he wants to turn to God.” (Acts 19:4 NIV)

Maybe your heart is beating a little faster now because you feel you too would like to take this step! Then I can only congratulate you and encourage you to talk to your pastor about it today.
