Refresh: 21 Days of Prayer & FastingChikamu
John 16:7 (NAS) But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
One of the blessings of the New Birth is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said it was important for Him to return to the Father so He could send the Helper, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth.
In the Greek, the word used is “Paracletos”, one called alongside to help; or Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor.
That close fellowship is literally talking about not just being with you, but in you. Living, dwelling, and abiding in you.
John 14:16-17 (Amplified Classic) says; And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
Remember, from a previous devotion, we said the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. This is the same Holy Spirit. He is your helper, advocate, strengthener, and fortress. As well as your counselor and comforter.
In John 14:25, it says that the Holy Spirit will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance what Jesus has said.
And I believe that Holy Spirit will direct your steps and guide you down the path that leads to God’s purpose and destiny for your life.
Your affirmation declaration for today is… Thank you Holy Spirit. You are my comforter, my intercessor, my advocate, my strengthener, my counselor, my guide, and my teacher. Direct my steps today.
