It's Time to Plant

DAY 5 OF 10

Day 5:

Fourth Law: Whatever You Plant Is What You Will Reap (Harvest).

Does the farmer plant corn and, on his way home, start wondering if he is going to harvest tomatoes? No one does that. Why do we think we can plant one thing and reap something else? It is madness. Galatians 6:7, the Good News Translation, reads, “Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant.” If you plant oranges, you will harvest exactly that. If you plant mangos, you will harvest exactly that. Whatever you plant, you will reap. You do not even need to pray about it. Whether you believe it or not, whether you understand it or not, you will reap exactly what you plant.

It works both ways; it could be a positive blessing or a negative curse. If you go around planting seeds of kindness, seeds of grace, seeds of generosity, seeds of forgiveness, and seeds of mercy, you will reap exactly those things. But if you go around planting seeds of hatred, jealousy, bitterness, gossip, anger, injustice, prejudice, and division, you are going to reap exactly that also. If you do not like what you are reaping, change what you are sowing. That is how it works.

What seeds are you planting? Choose wisely the seeds you plant because whatever you plant is what you will reap. There is no amount of fasting and praying that can change that. The only thing you can do is quickly start uprooting the wrong seeds you are planting. And start planting the right seeds. But as long as that seed is in the soil, the harvest is sure.

What seeds do you need to stop planting and uproot?
What seeds do you need to start planting and watering?

Take 5: Talk to God in prayer about your takeaway from today’s reading.

About this Plan

It's Time to Plant

Right from the beginning, in the creation story, God shows us a pattern which contains a huge lesson. And this lesson continues throughout the Bible. Jesus shows up on the scene and points to this same lesson. As long as heaven remains, seed time and harvest will continue. This plan focuses on seed, planting, and watering. A key principle of the kingdom of God and therefore, to every believer after God’s heart.
