Remembered for Good: 5 Qualities of a ManSample
Andronicus and Junia
Paul introduces us to a couple who became followers of Christ even before he did. These faithful individuals are a powerful reminder of the importance of godly examples in our lives. They were Jews, fellow prisoners, and their commitment to Christ caught the apostles’ attention. Their lives spoke volumes about their faith, making them noteworthy in the eyes of all who encountered them. As men, we must make sure that we have godly examples who can guide us, correct us, and help us along the way.
We, too, are called to be beacons of light in a world desperate for guidance. Paul encourages believers to be faithful to their families and God’s family. Men, you must lead by example, showing other men what it means to live as godly individuals (Titus 2:1–2, 6–7). Likewise, women play a significant role in teaching and guiding other women, reflecting the beauty of womanhood and the values of Christ (Titus 2:3–5).
The influence of godly examples extends beyond mere words or teachings. It involves embodying our principles and living them out daily. The Scriptures remind us of the importance of mentorship and its impact on our spiritual growth. Examples include Jethro mentoring Moses, Eli guiding Samuel, Jesus investing in His disciples, and Paul pouring into Timothy. These relationships allow us to learn, grow, and mature in our faith.
Even if we didn’t have a father figure in our lives, we can seek God’s provision for a spiritual mentor. Mentors are crucial for our development, offering their wisdom, experience, and support. Movies often depict powerful mentorship relationships, like those between Rocky and Creed, or Gandalf and Frodo.
Consider the impact of genuine friendships built on mentorship. One businessman became my mentor and we met for breakfast weekly for an entire decade. His wisdom and guidance played an invaluable role in shaping my life. Your relationship could be a weekly call or meeting with someone you trust. Such connections can transform our lives and encourage us to stay on the right path.
The call to be a godly example is not confined to a select few; it is a responsibility that falls on each one of us. Our lives have the potential to impact others in profound ways. As we strive to live out our faith, let us be mindful of the influence we can have on those around us. Through mentorship, encouragement, and leading by example, we can shape the lives of others, inspiring them to walk in the footsteps of Christ.
