Remembered for Good: 5 Qualities of a ManSample
It’s About Transformation
In this series of devotionals, we will explore the idea of leaving a lasting legacy and being remembered for the good that we do. Romans 16 sheds light on the unsung heroes in God’s kingdom. Although Paul mentions specific individuals, his message applies to all of us. Through these devotionals we will look at certain qualities of what a man focused on the Kingdom looks like. If you are not a man reading this, that’s ok, because these principles can help you as well.
Imagine being part of a championship-winning baseball team, like the Houston Astros. The players received World Series rings. Those connected to the team—including coaches, front office staff, and even groundskeepers—received them too. They were acknowledged because the team’s success did not depend solely on the players. It took a collective effort from everyone involved.
We may never pitch in a major league baseball stadium or steal a base, but we can still serve the Lord in extraordinary ways. We may not receive recognition like the star players, but our role in God’s kingdom matters.
Paul’s passage mentions 36 individuals who played various roles in spreading the gospel. The diversity among them is remarkable: men and women, Jews and Gentiles, slave and free, the well-to-do, and the well-thought-of. God uses all of us to fulfill His purposes. In God’s kingdom, each of us has a crucial role. We are part of the grounds crew, diligently working behind the scenes to advance the gospel. Our contributions may not always be recognized, but they are invaluable.
As we seek to be remembered for good, legacy is not about personal accolades. It’s about faithfully fulfilling the tasks God has entrusted to us. We can serve Him wholeheartedly, trusting that our efforts are significant in His eyes, no matter how small. We can nurture relationships, extend acts of kindness, and share Christ’s love with others. Our efforts may not be as glamorous as hitting a home run, but it makes a lasting impact on those around us. Our service in God’s kingdom holds immeasurable value. We may not have our names etched in the annals of history, but we can impact lives for eternity.
Today, embrace your role in God’s kingdom. Serve faithfully, trusting that your dedication matters. Be remembered for the good you do, not for personal glory, but for the glory of God. Your legacy will shine brightly, not with diamonds on a ring, but through the lives you touch with His love.
