Through the Bible: Proverbs

DAY 2 OF 10

Get Wisdom at Any Cost

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Cherish her, and she will exalt you;
embrace her, and she will honour you.
She will give you a garland to grace your head
and present you with a glorious crown.”
Proverbs 4:7-9 (ESV)

I once heard this quote: “We spend our entire lives climbing the ladder of success only to find the ladder leans against the wrong wall.” I couldn’t agree more.

1 Corinthians 3:18 warns us not to deceive ourselves. If any of us think we are wise by the standards of this age, we should become “fools” so that we may become wise.

King Solomon had an open cheque from God to ask for whatever he wants. He asked for wisdom. One may ask for wealth, power and huge mansions. But King Solomon valued wisdom above all else. Because he understood the importance of wisdom. With wisdom, he also received wealth and fame.

Godly wisdom can be found only in one place, and that is the “Holy Bible” - the word of God.

Prayer:

Abba Father, thank You for giving us wisdom as the excellent way of thinking and doing things. May we fear You, for this is the beginning of wisdom.  Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Help us to use our time wisely for Your glory. In Jesus’ most precious name, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Proverbs

The book of Proverbs is a book of Godly wisdom, in which the author often calls the readers “my child”, instructing them to live wisely by forsaking foolishness. The foundational key to acquire wisdom, as the author says, is the fear of the Lord. This book is a manual as well as an invitation for us to live a good, effective and abundant life.
