Read To Me Daily Semester 2

DAY 40 OF 86

JOSHUA 20-21:
Yesterday in our reading in the book of Joshua, we read the details of land allotment and cities for the remaining seven tribes with their families. Last of all, Joshua himself received a city.

PSALM 76:
We can definitely learn some lessons in our psalm for today, Psalm 76. It only makes sense to know God and to be firmly on His side. As verse 10 says, “Human defiance only enhances His glory.” The second line of that verse is very unclear in Hebrew. NLT’s translation makes good sense, saying that God uses human defiance as a weapon against the same defiant ones.

ACTS 26:
In yesterday's story in Acts, Festus took his position as governor and tried Paul. Afterward, King Agrippa and his sister came, and the stage was set for Paul to defend himself again.

Let's pray together.
Our Father, what happened to Paul is an example for us in the way the world's system of judgment works. Judgment is frequently not impartial, but is based on political things. But your judgments are different, oh Lord our God, and so we praise You and thank You. We remember that You have set a time for judgment and that You will judge with fairness. You will have tested each one of us, and You will know everything about us. Therefore You are worthy to judge, and You will judge by Christ Jesus— acquitting some and condemning others. Lord, I pray that all of my listeners would know that You have a cup in your hand, filled with the strong wine of your anger. You will pour it out, and the wicked will drink it. They'll drink it down to the last drop. But your word says that now there is no condemnation for those who are united to Christ Jesus— one with him. He has fulfilled the righteous requirements that You set. Oh, we could pay the debt we owe because of our sins, but Christ our Savior has redeemed us. Therefore can pray, “Lord, break the power of the wicked. Let the power of the righteous be increased.” Help us to fully proclaim about the salvation that You have provided, and we will never stop speaking about You and singing praises to You— the god of Jacob.
