Read To Me Daily Semester 2Sample
JOSHUA 24:
In yesterday’s reading in Joshua 22-23, Joshua dismissed the three tribes of warriors to return to their homes to the east of the Jordan. But when they went home, they decided to build an altar as a memorial. But their idea was misunderstood, nearly resulting in war.
PSALM 78a:
For today’s poetry reading, we read the first half of Psalm 78. This poetic recitation of Israel’s history comes at a fitting place in relation to our other Old Testament reading.
ACTS 27b:
Yesterday in the first half of Acts 27, Paul, Luke, and Aristarchus started the voyage to Rome, under the command of a Roman officer named Julius. The captain, ship owner, and sailors didn't listen to Paul's prophetic warning, and we will see today that disaster was the result.
Let’s pray.
Our heavenly Father, please help us to remember that You do not change. Your power is undiminished. And you always act according to your promises. When we are in stormy seas, help us to know that You have not rejected us. When we are overwhelmed by ocean waves and doubting your power, help us to remember all that you have done in the past— your heroic acts of long ago, and how you have helped us in our lifetime. When we are burdened by our sins, assure us by your Holy Spirit that we can still find forgiveness in You. “Everything you do, O God, is holy. No god is as great as You. You are the God who works miracles!” No matter what storms are attacking us, we choose to trust in you.
