DAY 12 OF 33

Lebanon (Middle East)

Is it not yet a very little while
Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest?
In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
The humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD,

And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 29:17-19 NKJV

Lebanon, with a population of over 5,200,000 people, boasts a unique blend of Shia and Sunni Muslims alongside Christians and Druze. While Arabic is the official language, French and English are also widely spoken, reflecting the nation’s diverse cultural fabric and its role as a sanctuary for minorities in the region. As a democratic republic, Lebanon’s parliamentary system ensures representation for each major religion.

Among the nation’s religions, Lebanon boasts the second-highest concentration of Christian believers in the Middle East at roughly 32%. Lebanon also stands as the sole Arab nation promoting religious freedom and permitting legal conversion to Christ, offering a fertile ground for the spread of the Gospel. Through initiatives addressing the physical needs of refugees, the Church seizes opportunities to address spiritual needs amidst adversity. Leveraging its size and influence, the Church in Lebanon emerges as a pivotal center for Christian ministry across the Middle East.

Prayer Points to Consider:

  • Pray that the Lord of the Harvest continues to send workers into Lebanon’s harvest field and that these workers are well supplied with everything they need.
  • Pray for those who follow Jesus within Lebanon to reject the powerful influence of sectarianism within their community and that they participate wholeheartedly in the ministry of reconciliation.
  • Pray for Lebanon’s church leaders to recognize the devil’s work and resist demonic influences in Jesus’ name when they are tempted to yield to strife, selfish ambition, and the love of money.
  • Pray for people living in the Baca Valley, referenced in Psalm 84:6, that there would again be springs of LIVING water and for new works that are happening there.
  • Pray for Lebanon’s poor and needy: those widowed and orphaned by war, the many families who are internally displaced, those struggling in a failed economy, and the refugees who remain homeless and stateless. May they find true hope in Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father...I first take a few moments to quiet my heart before You to then be led by Your Spirit in prayer ______ (take time to do this). I lift up to You, the beautiful land of Lebanon with all her splendor and pain. May the many people groups who live within her borders come to know Jesus as their Redeemer and, through knowing Him, be reconciled to You and to one another. We pray for that day You have promised, when Lebanon becomes a fruitful field—when the deaf hear Your words, the blind see Your goodness, and the poor rejoice in You! In the Majestic Name of King Jesus, I pray. Amen!
