Qatar was a part of the Ottoman Empire until 1918, followed by a British protectorate until its independence in 1971. Interestingly, power has remained with the Al Thani family since the mid-1800s.

Qatar’s population of nearly 2.3 million people is predominantly comprised of Sunni Muslims, with 90% of its workforce hailing from various parts of Asia. Despite its small native population, Qatar experiences the highest rate of population growth globally.

The country’s strict laws forbid criticism of the ruling family or Islam and prohibit the sharing of the Gospel. Expatriates who openly discuss Christianity risk deportation. While immigrant Christians are allowed to practice their faith, they often face discrimination and are considered second-class citizens. Additionally, government regulations tightly control Christian gatherings, making it challenging for believers to worship together.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray that the Good News of the Gospel would be like a light that draws the 2.3 million unreached people to Jesus. That religious restrictions for sharing the Gospel be lifted or that divine encounters among the believing and unbelieving be supernaturally protected.
• Pray that the region’s people would receive dreams, visions, and encounters with the Lord and that Jesus would be understood as the Son of God and Emmanuel—God with us.
• Ask Father for the rise of bold Christian leaders to grow in the knowledge of His Word, finding greater personal freedom practically, emotionally, and spiritually for themselves and, in turn, leading in Jesus’ love to those in their care toward more significant wholeness.
• Ask for the Holy Spirit’s outpouring so that the immigrant churches can continue to grow, be revived in His strength and power, and increase discipleship efforts among their youth with His Word and gifts.
• Pray that the governmental leaders would also receive visions and dreams of Jesus the Messiah and that their hearts would be turned towards Him.

Dear Heavenly Father...Though Qatar has strict governance against sharing Your Gospel, please work through the many Asian immigrants to witness wisely. Because Your Church has set many locals free from occult bondage, may that work of deliverance in Your name grow more and more. Please continue speaking to countless hearts through radio, television, social media, and chat rooms, reaching this nation with Your healing and saving power through Your Word and vibrant, Spirit-filled people just as in the Book of Acts.
