God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 12 OF 40

We Don’t Know the Day or Hour - Day 12

When Jesus ascended into Heaven nearly 2,000 years ago, he promised his followers he would return soon. How do we define soon if a thousand years are like a day to the Lord? Many people deny the legitimacy and inerrancy of Scripture because the second coming of Christ has not occurred yet. However, the Bible is clear that God’s plan for the second coming is to wait for all who can be saved. The one who created the universe and instituted time is outside of both. God has not delayed Jesus’s return. He isn’t running late. Instead, he is acting on his own perfect timeline.

He desires that all would be saved and none should perish. Every day that Jesus does not come back to set things right is another day for us to evangelize and share the gospel. Heaven can never be too crowded. Today, take a few minutes to pray and ask God how you can best make use of the time between the first and second comings of Christ. How can you effectively share the gospel with others?
