Topic: Church
What does it say?
The early church was fruitful and flourishing because it was committed to observing healthy practices.
What does it mean?
The early church was devoted to the Apostle’s teaching, to fellowship, to practicing communion, and to prayer. They gave generously and cared for one another. They gathered in both large groups and small groups. They sought to worship and praise God for how he was moving among them. They faithfully proclaimed the Gospel, and the Lord continually grew the early church as a result.
How should I respond?
In this passage, we learn the marks of a healthy church – the faithful teaching of God’s Word, corporate prayer, loving and caring fellowship, vibrant worship, and consistent outreach. As Christ-followers, we are called to participate in and contribute to each of these practices. How can you begin to integrate them into your life? Are you participating in weekly worship services? Have you connected with a small group of other Christ-followers to study God’s Word and to fellowship? Are you engaging in serving within the church and proclaiming the Gospel to those in your community? Look for opportunities to support your church and share Christ’s love with those around you.
