DAY 1 OF 10

Topic: Salvation

What does it say?

Sin and death entered the world as a result of Adam’s sin, but grace and forgiveness came through Jesus Christ.

What does it mean?

Because of Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden, every person is born into a world of sin and death. As descendants of Adam, we are all sinners and are all under God’s just condemnation. The only way to overcome the judgment and condemnation of being “in Adam” is to accept God’s gift of salvation through Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we receive a new identity. We are no longer sinners condemned to death. We are now reconciled to God, counted as righteous and have received the promise of eternal life.

How should I respond?

As human beings, we are all either “in Adam” or “in Christ.” Through Adam, we inherited a sinful nature and because of that nature, we are alienated from God. But sin and death do not have to have the final word. Through Christ, we can experience peace with God. Have you received the gift of his grace? Have you placed your faith in the complete work of Christ? If so, spend some time thanking God for the salvation you have in Christ. If not, please consider what this passage says about our need for a Savior and make the decision to trust in Jesus for your salvation.
