The Sky’s the Limit, Innit? Learning to Thrive Within Your LimitsSample
Live Tall, Not Small - But Scale the Right Walls!
‘With my God, I can scale a wall.’ God gives us supernatural strength to climb high and jump over obstacles. If God has called you to do something, ultimately nothing can stop you from scaling those heights.
Living within our limits is not about living small, it’s about living with focus and climbing the right walls. We can’t fight every battle and scale every wall.
Living within our limits is not a call for rooftoppers to stay home and never take risks. It’s a call to ensure that we are climbing the right building, and then checking we have the correct equipment to climb safely and efficiently to reach our potential.
God has called me to work with deaf people – they are limited in communication. Not because they can’t communicate, and do so incredibly well via sign language. Their limitations exist because most people in the UK use spoken English. In some small way, I can help deaf students with the limitations they experience, by supporting them to access their education.
Remember when you were younger, and trying to climb up something and a friend would give you a ‘leg up’ to help you to get higher? Who are you giving a ‘leg up’ in life to? What are you called by God to do? Do it with unlimited passion and love. And take time to rest and recover, so you can continue to love and serve well.
I love this scripture from Galatians 6:4-5 – particularly in The Message translation. ‘Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best with your own life.’
Angela the rooftopper says, ‘I looked up, the roofs were calling me to be part of the sky, that beauty, that greatness.’
Most of us, like Angela, want to be involved in reaching our dreams and experiencing the beauty and greatness of the sky, whatever that looks like for us. But let’s not forget to enlist the help of our limits and view them as a ‘leg up’ rather than a letdown in achieving our potential.

About this Plan
Inspired by the ‘Skywalkers’ documentary on Netflix, this plan examines the theme of the limits we face in our daily lives. It encourages us to learn to recognize, embrace and thrive within our limits. If properly listened to, our limits can actually help to provide focus for our lives and propel us forward, rather than hinder and restrict us.
