What Was I Made For?

DAY 12 OF 28

Around 2020, my mom lost her job, and our family had to rely on my dad’s non-profit income, which wasn’t much at the time. During this time, it was easy to compare what we had to what other families had. Why could they have huge houses, fancy cars, expensive shoes, and multiple TVs when we struggled to pay for daily necessities? Something I remember about this season is that we were never in want. We always had food on the table. My mom would take us on free adventures for fun, and we would have the time of our lives without paying a cent. In this moment of financial challenge, God allowed my dad’s ministry to flourish. I still remember receiving a check in the mail with the amount we needed to get by for the week. Though I know that time was difficult financially, I look back and remember God’s faithful provision in our lives. Because God didn’t leave or forsake us. God provided for our needs in a way we never could have on our own, and that’s something we can all trust!

Next time you are worried about whether you have enough of what you need to get by (whether it’s energy, time, money, or something else), pray and ask God to provide for you. Then, ask God to help you trust that provision for your life!
