Anchor Your Soul for 5-DaysSample
Lifted Safety
In grief, we are besieged with waves of sorrow. It can feel like we’re in a deep pit and unable to come up for fresh air. When we are in the depths of despair, God is still there. He lifts us up and holds us close in comfort. He honors our needs, provides his presence, and collects the shattered pieces of our hearts.
Our God does not leave us alone in our grief. He lifts us up and places us in the safety of his presence. There’s not a thing we need to do but rest in him. We can’t rush through grief as if it were a dark room on our way to a light-filled kitchen. Dark nights of the soul come, but they won’t last forever. We can trust that the God who never leaves us will keep us safe until the break of day.
Compassionate One, I’m grateful for your persistent presence in every season of my life. You don’t ridicule my sorrow, nor do you demand my joy. You offer me your own but never as a way to deny the pain of life. You are my healing balm and safe space.
