DAY 18 OF 42

We live in a world with a lot of information. For every topic, you can find countless results when you type in the right thing on Google. How can good decisions be made with so much information?

The other day, my wife needed a new PC keyboard. So, I searched online for keyboards. I was shown a range of 30,000 keyboards. The question is: which one is the right one for my wife? Clicking on an offer, the next page describes this product and how this product is rated by buyers. The first review: 5 stars - price-performance is right. Super product. Scrolling a little further: one star - poor quality, never again. What's right now, and most importantly, what should I buy?

I think that it is often the same for us in our lives. A keyboard may not be the most important thing, but what about the really important decisions? What job should I do? Who should I marry? Should I buy a house? What should I do with my time?

When Jesus left the earth, He told His disciples it was better for them that He go, because He would send a new helper, the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit as a helper and comforter.

I have actually experienced Him as a helper many times: when I have to make a decision, I consciously connect with the Holy Spirit and suddenly a thought comes to mind. If we give the Holy Spirit space in our lives, wisdom and insight will follow.

However, my challenge is often that I think I myself know what is good for me. I don't need divine help. My ego tells me: I can do it on my own. Yet I have so many examples where I thought I was getting wise, and, in the end, it was anything but wise.

There is a struggle in me between what the Holy Spirit says and what I want myself.

I want to learn to get to the point where my trust in God is so great that I no longer care about my ego. I want to have a healthy dependence on the Holy Spirit and see God's will become a reality in my life.

ACTION STEP

Train yourself today to make decisions with the Holy Spirit. Use very simple situations where a decision needs to be made. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what is good for you now, and ask Him to help you become sensitive to His speaking.
