DAY 17 OF 42

When Jesus was 30 years old, He chose 12 men with whom He lived in close community. Over the next three years, these guys learned what their true potential was and what goal was worth living for. Through Jesus’ life, they saw how He dealt with sin and how He helps people come to freedom. In the process, the disciples themselves were so changed that they were willing to turn the whole world upside down for Jesus. Jesus taught His disciples what it meant to live out of a living relationship with God and how they could positively change their environment.

And then came the day when Jesus decided that He could leave as the disciples should be able to pass on what they had learned.

But, not much happened at first. It seemed that no one really knew what to do next. So they did nothing for the time being and waited.

Why? Were the disciples overwhelmed?

Interestingly, something did change. Namely on Pentecost. On the day when the Holy Spirit came into action. He came upon the disciples and changed everything. Suddenly, they were able to carry out Jesus’ mission. It just came out of them. The Bible says that nearly 3,000 people came to faith that day. What a revival: the Holy Spirit was the decisive factor in not only knowing Jesus' commission but also implementing it. The Holy Spirit is the part of God that wants to live in us and connects us with God the Father and Jesus.

At Easter we celebrate that Jesus has freed us from sin, and we can experience how we become new people. Through the Holy Spirit, we become able to positively change those around us with this wonderful news.

ACTION STEP

Today, intentionally invite the Holy Spirit into your daily life. Take a minute to ask Him to speak through you to another person today. Have the courage to make this happen.
