Who is a True Prophet?
Matthew 7:16
You will recognize them by their fruits.
If you read through the book of Deuteronomy 18, you will find the word ‘prophet’ mentioned several times. A prophet is someone who speaks on behalf of God to reveal the will of God. In short, a prophet is a messenger between God and His people. God sent prophets throughout the history to guide and warn His people. A prophet speaks what is right, not what is popular.
Who do you think a true prophet is?
Not Dumbledore. Not Dr. Strange. Not Ironman either.
A true prophet is just an ordinary person having an extraordinary task from the true God.
Jesus says that a true prophet bears good fruits. Good fruit refers to their actions of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. A true prophet will always point to Jesus Christ. Most importantly, a true prophet will always guide the people according to the Bible because every true prophet knows that the Bible is the truth from God.
Prayer
Dear God, may Your Holy Spirit give me wisdom to understand Your truth and to recognize Your voice and Your will in our lives. Amen.
