Day 3 Overcoming Insecurity
In order to enter the promised Land, Joshua and the Israelites had to first cross the Jordan River. Oh, and just so you understand the significance here, at the time of the year that this took place, the Jordan was at flood stage. Have you ever crossed a river during a flood? It’s not suggested. The water is flowing hard. It is dangerous and deep. Remember, these people weren’t wearing wet suits, they were wearing robes, robes and sandals.
The first thing that we can learn from Joshua about overcoming insecurity and becoming confident in Christ we learn in Joshua 3:6. The Word says, “Joshua said to the priests, “take up the ark of the covenant and pass ahead of the people. So they took it up and went ahead of them.” My friend, get this deep into your understanding. To become confident in Christ, we must follow the Word.
The Ark had to lead everyone. God commanded the priests to be the only ones who were authorized to carry the Ark, (remember, this carried the 10 commandments and the law) The law was everything to the Israelites. God told them that the Ark and the priests must go first. The law was to the Israelites what Jesus and His Word are to us. Jesus and The Word must come first in our lives if we want to see any consistent victory over our insecurity.
God’s Word is what will heal our doubts. God’s Word is what will heal our fears. God’s Word planted deeply into the garden of our soul is what will heal our painful yesterdays and our unpredictable tomorrows.
In order to cure insecurity in our lives we must know what the Word says about us. We must follow what the Word says. We must follow behind and trust what the Word says. The Word is our lifeline. The Word works. Study, learn and know what The Word says about you.
