Love Overcomes– Derek Johnson
Psalm 18
The theme of this song is remembering that nothing is impossible for God. No matter what we face our hope is ultimately in Him and His nature to suddenly upend a circumstance and breakthrough. In light of that we are a people who worship and praise whether we are in a valley or in the victory. The reality is that in life we are going to face things that challenge us greatly. There is a strength that finds us and fills us when we can worship and remember who God is in every season. My prayer is that this song inspires people to never stop believing for the breakthrough no matter how impossible it may seem and be people of praise through it all.
I think Psalm 18 is an amazing example of praising God and declaring who He is. Acknowledging the situations, or enemies as David puts it, in front of us but believing in the Salvation of our God.
Truthfully that's not always easy to do. Pain, fear, disappointment, and discouragement often come especially when walking through a challenge. I just believe there is an antidote for those things. It’s worship. We’ve all heard the stories or maybe lived it where people in a dire situation come to the end of themselves and realize all that’s left to do is worship. The only fight left is a song of praise. In those very moments a deep strength comes. We remember who is fighting our battles. I pray this wouldn’t just be a song but an actual declaration you make over things that feel impossible. Love Overcomes. Depression, sickness, poverty, oppression, infertility, and cancer are all inferior names to the name of Jesus. Declare in faith that His love overcomes and watch impossibilities bow and strongholds break in the name of Jesus.
