Вскоре после этого Иисус велел ученикам сесть в лодку и послал их вперед, на другой берег озера, а Сам остался, чтобы отпустить народ. Попрощавшись с людьми, Он в одиночестве поднялся в горы, чтобы помолиться. И когда наступил вечер, Он был там один. Лодка была уже далеко от берега, и волны кидали её из стороны в сторону, так как она шла против сильного ветра. Между тремя и шестью часами утра Иисус пришёл к ученикам, идя по воде.
