Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
As we saw in the last section, Peter makes it plain that the universe will soon be melting like snow in the heat of God’s judgment. This means that we should live a certain kind of life in light of this fact.
Peter says in verse 14 that we should “make every effort” (i.e. work very hard) to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with Jesus. That means holiness and godliness (v. 11).
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 3:14, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1-3:14 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 3:15 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
About this Plan
Adapted from An Approach To Extended Memorization Of Scripture, by Dr. Andrew Davis, this 62 day plan will take the reader through 2 Peter using a tried and tested approach of memorizing a new verse each day. At the end of the 62 day period the reader will have the entire book of 2 Peter memorized.
