Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
This amazing section of Scripture begins by pointing to the awesome power of God to save our souls by means of his “very great and precious promises” (v. 4).
God has already given us everything we need both to be alive in Christ and to be godly like Christ. The sovereign God has called us out of our wretched sinfulness to become partakers of his divine nature (v. 4), and the power that has effected the beginning of this journey is nothing less than those very promises—the word of God.
How powerful it is, therefore, for us to memorize his words, his promises! This will deliver to us the rest of the transforming power we need for the remainder of our journey in Christ.
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 1:3, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1:1-3 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 1:4 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
