Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
Having thus begun the Christian life by faith in the promises of God, we must now rest on his sovereign power and venture forth to spiritual growth.
Because God has given us everything we need for life and godliness, then every effort we make to grow in Christ will be blessed by him and effective for us. How encouraging is that! So we must be diligent, hardworking in the Christian life, seeking to add to our faith a variety of Christian qualities that reflect Christlike character: virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love.
These qualities must be in us and must continue to grow in us more and more, or we will become stagnated in the Christian life.
If we stop growing, we are nearsighted and blind, forgetting our salvation in Christ. But if these qualities are increasing in us, we will be amazingly fruitful in the Christian life for the glory of God.
Only by consistent growth in this way will we be certain that we actually were chosen by God before the foundation of the world and have genuinely been called by the Spirit to follow Christ to heaven.
If we live this kind of fruitful life, we will be richly welcomed into heaven when Christ returns!
For today's lesson, recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 1:5, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1:1-5 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 1:6 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times. You’re done for the day.
