God's Imitators

DAY 29 OF 33

Serving Jesus by serving others When I was growing up, I was confused when I heard people telling me to serve the Lord. I figured I was just a kid, so there wasn't a whole lot for me to do. Maybe you've felt the same way. You can't even drive, so how can you serve Jesus? One of the nice things about getting older is that I now realize we serve Jesus when we use the talents He gave us to bless the people in our lives. Jesus even gave us some ideas: "I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you took Me into your home. I needed clothes, and you gave Me something to wear. I was sick, and you took care of Me. I was in prison, and you visited Me." (Matthew 25:35,36). Maybe you're thinking, "I've never given Jesus clothes or food, and I for sure didn't visit Him in prison." But Jesus added, "Whatever you did for one of my brothers or sisters . . . you did for Me" (verse 40). When you share your lunch, when you give some of your best toys to a child whose house flooded, when you make a card for the teacher when her dad dies, you are doing it for Jesus.
