Bible Reflections From Scripture Union Volume OneSample

God Rules!
Read Micah 4:1-13
In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Micah 4:1
In the last days the kingdom of God shall reign supreme. There will be an unprecedented turning to the true and living God by peoples of all nations. They will be taught by Yahweh and they will once again lead lives that conform to God’s laws. Under the kingship of the Lord Jesus, there shall be peace and security. But before this can happen, God will judge His people. He will allow them to be driven into exile by the Babylonians. He will then restore them and bring them back to Himself.
Undeniably, we are living in these last days where there is an escalation of wars, terrorism, human rights abuse, natural disasters, immorality, idolatry and the anti-Christ spirit. Our daily newspapers and television news testify to the dismal state and condition of our world.
But as God’s people we are not pessimistic. We know that ultimately God will rule and reign when Jesus comes to establish His kingdom. Peoples from all nations will turn to the true and living God. They will offer acceptable worship and obey God’s law. God will establish peace and security. In the Messianic period, God will bring back the exiles (the Jews). He will redeem and restore them to Himself. The enemies of God will be routed and their end will be destruction.
Earthly kingdoms are full of flaws and foibles. They are temporal. In contrast God’s kingdom is perfect and eternal. What a great privilege to know that such a kingdom exists and that we are part of it.
God is the history maker and He has the last say.
Pray that in these turbulent times, people will recognise their weakness and poverty and turn to the true and living God. Pray for a family member or colleague by name.
