DAY 104 OF 181

It is Done – the Great Transaction’s Done!
Mark 15:33-47

The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:38

Crosses are everywhere: crude crosses at makeshift graves, big crosses on top of churches and schools, dainty crosses dangling from mobile phones, beautiful crosses of gold and silver on ears and around necks.

Crucifixion is one of the cruellest, most humiliating and painful forms of punishment. Jesus, fully God, let go of His heavenly glory, came to earth and became fully man to save us. Jesus scorned the shame and endured the cross to the point of death. Human minds cannot really comprehend the agony that our Lord had to go through in our place. The movie, 'The Passion of Christ' could only depict some of it and we already feel it was too much. It is only because of Jesus that the cross is now a symbol of God’s everlasting, unfailing love.

“Father, where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Isaac had asked Abraham when they went up the mountain. Abraham, in faith, told his son that God Himself would provide (Genesis 22:13-15). Indeed Almighty God spared Abraham, but not Himself, the pain of sacrificing His only Son. Jesus cried, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” in His last hours. The holy and righteous God had to turn His face away from His beloved Son, the Lamb of God, because the Son was carrying the sins of the world. Jesus experienced what separation from God was like. He went through hell so that we don’t have to!

Let us cherish the Saviour who died on the cross and give Him our soul, our life, our all. Let us share the message of His death and resurrection with friends and family members.
