Better Together: Connecting With God And Each OtherSample
The Collaboration Model
Sometimes we get things right. When we find "like-minded" ministry partners and collaborators in our lives things are great. Collaboration is truly something to rejoice about! It is healthy to get excited about any other Christian individuals or organizations that come alongside us and work together with us for the Kingdom. But we must be cautious, because once our egos kick in and we start to think we have mastered this, selfishness wins the day.
Even in our partnerships we tend to wave our own flag. We still focus on our numbers and how they affect our donors and budgets. In the midst of partnership, it is easy to still tend to see our half. There tends to still be a big chuck of “me” in the “we” of collaboration. We get caught up in what we can get out of this good thing - often without realizing it!
Looking at the church of Acts, we see the power of perfect collaboration modeled before us. No needs among them, and great power to continue to share about the resurrection of Christ. All are one in heart and mind, and their hearts were sincere. No “me.” No selfish gain. Just Jesus!
Reflections:
- Compared to the model of collaboration in Acts, how would you rate your level of collaboration?
- What obstacles prevent us from exercising true collaboration?
- Are there any possessions you have to offer in your collaborations? Things you have to offer to those partners who are in need?
