The Parables of JesusSample
SHREWD MANAGER
This parable has a variety of interpretations among commentaries, but what is clear is that this parable is not to be used as a template for banking and account managing! Instead, we should see how the manager used worldly wealth to make friends and improve his situation, instead of being a slave to the wealth itself. We should use worldly wealth, not be used by it.
Yet the manager's reaction to his potential firing doesn't wipe away the fact he was going to be fired because of poor management of his responsibilities. We should also be sure to be faithful in every task we're given, at work, at home, at the church, because in all of them we represent our God.
