God Chose Me

DAY 4 OF 5

BUILD IT WHEN YOU DON’T SEE IT

God instructed Noah to build a massive ark because He was going to send a great flood to destroy the wickedness on the earth. The concept of a global deluge must have been beyond Noah’s imagination, and yet “by faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family” (Hebrews 11:7).

Noah had to make the decision to believe God…and then his decision had to turn into preparation.

What are you preparing for that God has said but you cannot see?

What if, instead of sitting around waiting, you decided to wake up with a fresh expectation? What if you began each day with a purpose in your spirit and joy in your heart, saying, “Today could be the day everything changes.”

When you decide to live with this expectation, it shifts your life from passivity to preparation. You start seeing and living in the reality you are hoping for rather than where you feel stuck.

Maybe you see yourself running a nonprofit that serves the underprivileged. Instead of focusing on the fact that you don’t have the funding, begin writing a vision for when you have multiple sites and teams to serve people across your city.

Maybe you want to be a missionary to a foreign land. Instead of focusing on the fact that you’ve never been outside of your hometown, why not start studying world religions so you can be prepared to better relate to and communicate with others?

Perhaps you see yourself having children. Instead of being unhappy because you’re single, why don’t you start reading books on leaving a legacy?

God’s Word defines faith as “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1). So, instead of asking for something you may or may not have control over, why not live in a position that says, “God, I am ready for what You want to do”?

You have chosen me for something special, Lord. Help me to do today what I can to get ready for it.
