God Chose Me

DAY 3 OF 5

GOD CHOSE YOU

God Chose You! Don’t believe me? Let’s look at one of the greatest apostles in the the Bible, Paul. The apostle Paul’s radical transformation is like a movie. He gets knocked to the ground. Jesus Christ speaks to him. God asks another follower of Jesus, a man named Ananias, to help Saul, the former Christian-killer. And when Ananias questions God’s choice of Saul, God says, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument” (Acts 9:15 NIV, emphasis mine).

Paul went on to live a miraculous life for Christ. He planted many churches and wrote over a dozen of the books of the New Testament.

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul opens by declaring his authority and qualifications to write to them. He goes on to write what has become the anchor scripture for my life: “Before I was born, God chose me” (Galatians 1:15).

After Paul met Jesus, something seems to have been unlocked deep inside him, a confidence deeper than circumstances. He lived with an unapologetic attitude because he knew who chose him and who put him in his position. He found confidence not in the opinions of others but in the fact that he was approved, accepted, and commissioned by the God of the universe. And no one else.

When God alone is the source and strength of your confidence, you enter a realm where failures, criticism, and insecurity begin to fade. It’s not that they’re not there or real. It’s just that you have found a better way!

I know that life, family, or circumstance may have told you otherwise. But the truth is, before you were born, you were chosen by the most important person ever. He has never second-guessed His choice and has loved every second of your life. He shines with joy every time you take a breath and stands with infinite excitement every time you start your day. This person thinks about you all the time and looks forward to the day you two finally meet face-to-face. He loves you with an infinite love and has grace for every part of you that feels “wrong.” From the beginning of time, He saw you for you and said three of the most powerful words in all the universe: I choose you.

Believe it. And have the confidence to live in this truth.

Today God I embrace the fact that you chose me! I can claim no credit in Your choice of me, God. But I trust that You now have hold of my life, and for that reason I ask for the gift of supernatural boldness to live the life you have created me to live.
