Listening to God's VoiceSample

God Speaks to Us Through the Bible
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
God’s revelation was fulfilled in Jesus. He commissioned His followers to bear witness about Him, both in speaking and in writing. And so they did, guided by the Holy Spirit.
As present-day believers, we "hear" more from God than anybody before us because we have so much of God’s revelation in the Bible. Jesus told His disciples:
“Truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it” (Matthew 13:16-17).
And we know even more than the disciples knew at that time!
The Bible is not just a record of what God has said in the past. “For the word of God is living and active…” (Hebrews 4:12). Every time we read the Bible, God is speaking to us here and now. His Word enables us to understand who He is, how to have fellowship with Him, and how to live in a way that honors Him and brings the greatest joy to us as His people. That way, we can discern what God’s good and perfect will is without God specifically and audibly speaking to us (Romans 12:2).
Do you "hear" God’s voice when reading the Bible? How do you respond?
About this Plan

Hearing the voice of God is a profound and essential part of the Christian life. God speaks in various ways—sometimes audibly, through circumstances, through dreams, or through other people. But primarily, He speaks through His written word. This reading plan studies how you can hear God’s voice and respond in faith to draw closer to God and grow in your relationship with Him.
